Under the surface.

These notes summarise the supplied Nava OS development records. Their purpose is to separate the current implementation from ongoing work and visual exploration.

The foundation

Nava OS uses the Linux kernel. Nava develops startup and service supervision, package tooling, a compositor and a desktop experience with open-source libraries. It is an independent distribution, not a GNOME or KDE theme.

Sources: docs/DECISIONS.md, including ADR-0001, and docs/ROADMAP.md. The repository’s top-level README has an older project status and should not be treated as the current progress report.

The current system

The roadmap documents implemented terminal, command-launch, tiling and virtual-workspace functionality, alongside startup, system services and package tools. The interface images on this site are concept renders from tools/motion-trailer/out/stills, not screenshots of the running system. They are selected visual studies, not evidence of feature availability.

Wireless hardware validation, audio playback, installation, system updates and release readiness remain ongoing. More recent lock-screen and control-panel changes are described in the decision records, while the original roadmap checklist still contains open items. This site does not claim complete implementation or independently tested hardware compatibility.

Sources: docs/ROADMAP.md and its October 13–16 additions; docs/DECISIONS.md ADR-0064–0066; tools/event-2027/FACT_CHECK.md. No performance figures or security guarantees are reproduced here.

Working with the source

For contributors who already have repository access, begin with docs/ARCHITECTURE.md, docs/ROADMAP.md and docs/DECISIONS.md. The documented build environment is Linux inside WSL2, with the repository on its Linux filesystem. Read the current build scripts and component documentation before attempting a build or changing system images.

The configured GitHub origin did not resolve publicly when checked. Public source access, an issue tracker and contribution instructions are therefore not offered as working links. A publicly downloadable Developer Preview and a supported-hardware list have not been verified.

The presentation

Nava OS Event 2027 is in production. The main presentation film, complete opening and event recording are unfinished. No event date is confirmed here.

Sources: tools/event-2027/STATE.md, DIRECTION.md and FACT_CHECK.md, dated October 18, 2026. Older motion scripts contain outdated claims and have not been used as release evidence.
